In the Nuu-chah-nulth version of this foundational myth, there was a time before sunlight when light was kept securely in a box guarded by a great chief sometimes called the Old Fisherman. Raven wanted this light and attempted various methods to release it. He transformed himself into a floating leaf that ended up in the teacup of the great chief's daughter.
