Sangkuriang and Mount Tangkuban Perahu
A Sundanese legend from West Java telling of Sangkuriang, a young man who unknowingly falls in love with his mother Dayang Sumbi, a goddess-blessed princess who remains eternally young. When Dayang Sumbi recognizes her son by a scar, she sets impossible tasks to prevent their marriage: he must dam the Citarum River and build a lake with a boat before sunrise. With supernatural help, Sangkuriang nearly succeeds, but Dayang Sumbi tricks him by lighting the eastern sky with red cloth to mimic dawn. Enraged at the deception, Sangkuriang kicks the unfinished boat, which forms Mount Tangkuban Perahu
