Stuorra-Jouni and the Stállu on Áiligas Fell

A legend from Talvadas on the Teno River. Stuorra-Jouni ('Big Jouni') is a legendary Sámi proto-hero, a wild deer hunter and storyteller. A noaidi from Varanger sent a Stállu to attack Jouni. Jouni met the Stállu on Áiligas fell and they fought according to the ritual pattern. The Stállu escaped on skis, leaving only its ski tracks on the fell, which remain visible to this day.
