The Boy Who Went to the Wind's Cave
Little Mats sets out on a perilous journey to the end of the world to find his kidnapped sister. To reach the Wind's Cave and the magical realm where she is held, he must make terrible sacrifices along the way, giving up one ear, one eye, and one hand, each loss enabling him to pass through a different barrier. When he finally reaches the wind's domain, he confronts the forces that took his sister and rescues her from captivity. As a reward, his losses are miraculously restored, and he wins a princess and half the kingdom.
