This Nuxalk legend tells of a magical boy who defeats a man-eating monster that terrorized the people. A cannibal giant (Boqs) had been stealing children from a Nuxalk village, carrying them off to his remote mountain lair to devour. The people were helpless against the monster's supernatural strength and ferocity. A young boy, born with extraordinary powers and protected by supernatural helpers, volunteered to confront the cannibal.
