The Death of the Sun's Daughter
The Sun's daughter Njávisheatne lived a long and good life. When she felt death approaching, she ordered that she be buried atop the highest peak so she could watch over the people forever. She was wrapped in a shroud of njavvi (reindeer neck hair) and laid to rest on a mountain now called Sun Daughter's Mountain. Stones were placed at her head, feet, and arms, with a flat slab of rock covering the grave. An inscription was carved: 'The turf raised, read the memorial.'
