In one Kwakwaka'wakw narrative, a clever boy was captured by D'Sonoqua and carried in her basket to her forest house. While she prepared to cook him, the boy noticed that D'Sonoqua was dim-witted with poor eyesight. He tricked her into showing him her treasures and then pushed her into her own cooking fire. As she burned, her wealth — copper shields, abalone shells, and blankets — spilled out. The boy took the treasures back to his village and became a great chief.
