The Fate of Aino
Wainamoinen falls in love with the young Aino, but she is horrified by his advanced age and lacks any affection for him. Despite her desperate pleas, her parents force her to marry the old enchanter. In a final act of desperation to escape her fate, Aino leaps into the sea, where she is transformed into a mermaid-like creature.
