The Flying Head (Kanontsistóntie)

The Flying Head is a terrifying monster in the form of a giant disembodied head as tall as a man, covered in thick black hair with bat-like wings and long sharp claws. It comes to the homes of widows and orphans at night, beating its wings on the walls and issuing terrible cries, presaging death within days. According to one legend, the Flying Head was born from a massacre where a famine-stricken tribe decapitated their dead and sank the heads in the lake.
