The Giant Cloud-Swallower
A Zuni story about a giant being who swallowed clouds, causing drought and suffering among the people. With the clouds gone, no rain fell, and the crops withered. The people performed ceremonies and made prayer offerings, but nothing worked. The twin war gods took action, pursuing the Giant Cloud-swallower across the sky. They shot their lightning arrows at the giant, who was so large he could be seen against the horizon. The battle raged across the heavens.
