The Hermit Mitsina

A Zuni story about Mitsina, a hermit who lived in seclusion with spiritual power. Mitsina had withdrawn from human society to live in a remote cave, where he communed with the spirits and gained deep knowledge of the sacred world. When the people faced a crisis, they sought him out for his wisdom and power. Mitsina, despite his isolation, felt compassion for his people and agreed to help. He used his spiritual knowledge to perform ceremonies and prayers that resolved the village's problems. Afterward, he withdrew again to his cave, teaching that spiritual power requires solitude and discipline
