The Kachinas Bring Agriculture
In Hopi tradition, during a great drought when the people were starving, they heard singing and dancing coming from the San Francisco Peaks (Nuvatukya'ovi). Investigating, they met the Kachinas — ancestral spirits and supernatural beings who inhabit the peaks. The Kachinas returned with the Hopi to their villages and taught them agriculture, including how to plant and care for corn, beans, and squash.
