A great battle once took place between the Comanche and the Shoshone near a sacred spring. Both tribes claimed the spring as their territory, and many warriors fell on both sides. The Great Spirit, seeing the bloodshed, caused the waters of the spring to bubble up with healing powers. The spring's mineral waters were said to have medicinal properties that could heal wounds and cure sickness.
