The Legend of Mount Mayon
This Bicolano legend tells of the tragic love story between Daragang Magayon, the beautiful daughter of a tribal chief, and Panganoron, a brave warrior from a rival tribe. After Magayon's father rejected Panganoron's proposal, a war erupted between the tribes. Panganoron emerged victorious, and the two were finally united in marriage. However, Magayon's jealous suitor Pagtuga attacked them, killing Panganoron. Magayon died of grief clutching her husband's body.
