The Legend of the Big Dipper (Crow)
After the seven bison and their human companion defeated Bones Together and were healed by the first Sweat Lodge ceremony, the Creator raised the seven bison into the sky to become the Big Dipper (the Seven Bison). The human companion became the Little Dipper, following them eternally across the night sky. The Crow look at the Big Dipper and remember the sacrifice and healing of the first Sweat Lodge. The stars serve as a constant reminder of the power of prayer, purification, and the bond between humans and animals. This story connects the Crow people to the cosmos and their daily rituals.
