The Legend of the Kushite Kings
The Kingdom of Kush, in what is now Sudan, was an ancient Nubian civilization that ruled over Egypt as the 25th Dynasty (c. 747–656 BCE). According to Kushite mythology, the god Amun (who had a major oracle at the sacred mountain of Gebel Barkal) chose the kings of Kush and bestowed divine kingship upon them. The most famous Kushite king, Piye, received a dream vision from Amun commanding him to unite Egypt under his rule.
