The Origin of Maple Sugar (Wenebojo and the Maple Trees)
Long ago, when Wenebojo was wandering the earth, he discovered that the maple trees produced thick, sweet syrup that flowed freely from their trunks. The people had only to collect it and drink their fill. Wenebojo, being lazy and greedy, drank so much that he became sick. Angrily believing the trees had tricked him, he diluted the syrup by throwing water into the trees so that only a thin sap remained.
