The Sacred Sieidi Stones
Legends about sieidis—unusual rock formations considered sacred dwelling places of spirits. Each family had its local sieidi. Offerings of reindeer meat, antlers, and fish were made for hunting luck and protection. The Storjunkare were stones resembling humans or animals, set up on mountain tops. They had power over all animals, fish, and birds. Reindeer were sacrificed at these sites.
