The Huldufólk, or Hidden People, are a race of elegant and powerful beings who live inside the rocks and mountains. They are generally peaceful but can be vengeful if their homes are disturbed. Many roads in Iceland are diverted to avoid disturbing these unseen neighbors and their dwellings.
