The Seven Sisters is a widespread Aboriginal Australian Dreaming story found across many language groups. The story tells of seven sisters who fled across the land and into the sky to escape a persistent pursuer, often a man named Wurrurrumbi or a hunter who wanted to take one of the sisters as his wife. As they fled, the sisters created landmarks, waterholes, and important sites across the Australian landscape. Finally they leaped into the sky, becoming the Pleiades star cluster.
