The Rinkusteinar legend in its more detailed form. Long ago, when Irish pirates attacked Fuglafjørður, they killed, robbed, and terrorized the village before setting sail for Oyndarfjørður. An old witch (sorceress) living in Oyndarfjørður saw them coming and rushed to the shore. She raised her arms and cast a powerful curse, transforming the pirate ships into stone. The two rocking stones (rinkusteinar) are the pirate vessels, forever rocking in the waves near Oyndarfjørður, eternally prevented from reaching their destination.
