The Star Husband (Arapaho)
Two Arapaho women lay outside their tipi at night. One pointed at a bright star and said she wished to marry it. The next day, a handsome young man appeared at their camp. He was the star in human form, come to claim his bride. The woman went with him to the sky world, where she lived among the star people. But she grew homesick and was told she could return to Earth if she did not eat certain food. She broke the taboo and immediately found herself back on Earth. Her star husband appeared no more, but she gave birth to a son who became a legendary Arapaho hero.
