The Sun's Daughter
A cycle of myths about Beaivvi nieida, the Sun's daughter, who descended from the sky to teach the Sámi people to tame reindeer, as well as beauty, handicraft, and hunting yoiks. After her death, she was buried on a mountain peak with reindeer neck hair as bedding. Her spirit wanders all of Sápmi with her reindeer herd—visible only when she sleeps. He who discovers her and awakens her with a kiss will gain her and her herd, but must prove himself worthy by following her instructions precisely.
