The Troll Son Who Had Sun Eyes
Humpe, the red-haired son of a troll mother, has large clear eyes with a gleam of sunlight in them, marking him as different from troll-kind. His unnatural affinity for daylight makes him an outcast. Filled with daylight's vigor, he leaves troll society and ventures into the forest. He encounters a birch maiden who, when he kisses her tree, transforms into a beautiful woman made of light. She accepts him despite his trollish appearance, and his love for sunlight transforms him, making him lose his troll-grey skin and become a handsome human forester.
