The Two Little Ones and Their Turkeys
A Zuni story about two orphaned children who were cared for by a flock of wild turkeys. The turkeys provided them with feathers for warmth, eggs for food, and protection from danger. The children lived in harmony with the turkeys, learning the ways of the forest and the language of birds. When the children grew older, they faced pressure to return to human society, but the turkeys warned them about the dangers of human greed.
