The Coast Salish people of the Olympic Peninsula tell of Ho-ho-e-ap-bess, the Two-Men-Who-Changed-Things, who were the brothers of the Sun and the Moon. When the world was very young, there were no people, birds, or animals — only grass and sand and creatures that were neither animal nor human.
